This Week in Books 02.09.15

This is a weekly meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost & Found in which we can share what we're reading, now, then and next!

Now

I'm slowly working my way through this series, this is book 3, hopefully it will be a quick and enjoyable read.

Then

This is the third book in the Sookie Stackhouse series, which the tv series True Blood is based on. I've not watched the programme, but its one I want to see!! This was an ok book, but nothing special.

Next

This is a novel I'm studying next semester at uni, so I thought it would be a good idea to read it in preparation.

My Last Review

Let me know what you're reading this week, happy reading!!

August Wrap Up

I managed to read a pretty impressive (for me anyway) 8 books last month, due mostly to the Bout of Books readathon, a holiday to the Isle of Skye where there wasn't any internet or phone signal and the fact that I've not gone back to uni yet!!

The first book I read was BZRK by Michael Grant. I love Grant's Gone series so I had high hopes for this novel too. I gave this novel 3.5/5 stars. My review can be read here.

The next book I read was a Net Galley ebook I've had for absolutely ages, And All The Stars by Andrea K. Host. This was a really surprising read, I really enjoyed it, and I gave it 4.5/5 stars.

I also managed to tackle a classic last month, and the longest novel I've read all year, The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. This has now become one of my favourite classics, containing one of my favourite villains I've read in a long time!! I gave it 4/5 stars.

The next four books I read were during the Bout of Books readathon, the first of which was The Giver by Lois Lowry. I read the majority of this novel in a coffee shop while waiting for my friend at the train station, and I found it a very quick read. However, I do think it raised some important questions too! I gave it 4/5 stars.

The next book I finished in the readathon was Ross Poldark by Winston Graham. This is the first novel in the Poldark series, which I purchased in July. After watching the BBC tv series, I was apprehensive to see how good the novel was, and how good an adaptation it was. Thankfully I wasn't disappointed, I really enjoyed this novel, and I gave it 4/5 stars.

The next book I read for the readathon was Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick. This is a novel that had been on my TBR pile fora very long time, and was one I had been intrigued to read. I really enjoyed this sci-fi/fantasy novel, and gave it 4/5 stars.

The last book I read for the Bout of Books readathon was The Walking Dead, Vol. 01: Days Gone Bye by Robert Kirkman. This is actually my first graphic novel of the year, which is a bit disappointing, and something I hope to change before January!!! This was a really good graphic novel, and has made me really want to watch The Walking Dead tv series now! I gave it 4/5 stars.

The last novel I read in August was Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris. This is the 2nd book in the Sookie Stackhouse series, which are books I kind of enjoy as a light, cheeky read, but they're definitely none of my favourites! I gave this novel 3/5 stars.
